LG Voyager Flat Screen Cell Phone Review

Verizon LG Voyager Cell Phone
Honestly, the only reason I got this phone is because it was free
I’ve been with Verizon Wireless for years and they give me a new phone every 2 years when I renew my contract. Since it was free, I took it!
Pros
Overall, the LG Voyager is a good phone. I like the touch screen a lot. It’s easy to use, looks better than the display on my Razor and is much bigger than the display on other cells phones I’ve had.
The menus are very self-explanatory for the most part and I can find what I need on the phone quickly.
This phone lets you customize just about everything. I’ve always hated those silly tones most mobile phones play when they power up or power down. You can turn off those sounds with the Voyager. In addition, you can set your ring tones (of course) as well as your text tones, keypad sounds and volume, backlighting, wallpaper, charging screen… you name it, you can customize it.
Also, the screen locks so that when you put the phone in your purse or pocket, it doesn’t rub up against something and accidentally dial a number.

LG Voyager Mobile Phone - Full Keyboard
I love being able to use the full keyboard for text messages. Plus, it’s a snap to press a couple of buttons and insert the name(s) of the person/people you want to send the text to. This also works for sending pics, etc.
It is Bluetooth compatible and comes with a built-in digital camera, alarm clock (handy for traveling or reminding you of appointments), calendar, navigator, email, web browsing, TV access and much more. Most of these features require additional service plans at an additional cost before they’ll work.
The camera takes decent pictures, but doesn’t have great zoom capabilities. It is easy to store photos and save them, email them, etc.
The battery life is better than average as the phone goes into automatic hibernate after just a few seconds. The range is good as well. I live in a very small town with less-than-perfect cell coverage and can usually get a signal at my house. I can always get a strong signal when I’m out and about.
Cons
Remember the hibernate feature? It flips to hibernate very quickly. After about 4-5 seconds. I have searched every menu on the phone and gone through the user’s manual and can’t find a way to extend that time. It gets in the way when you’re calling a company that has an automated attendant, for example. By the time the automated voice tells you to press 1 for whatever, the screen has gone black.
When you press the “end” button to bring the screen back, it sometimes makes you press “unlock” to use the keypad or takes you to a different screen than the one you were on. Annoying. Surely with all the features this phone has, it is possible to change this. My preference would be to tell it when *I* wanted it to turn the display off. I’ll keep looking. Maybe – if I have time – I’ll stop at a Verizon store and ask them if they know.
Overall, I do like the phone and love being able to customize everything just the way I want it to be.
