LuckyVitamin.com

I have to admit, I’m one of these people who drive online store owners crazy. I’ve been known to ROBO (research online, buy offline) on more than one occasion. But with items that don’t require the touchy-feely thing prior to buying (such as vitamins and supplements), I tend to do the opposite: I’ll visit local stores to check out prices and inventory, then try to find them cheaper online. This is what I was doing when I happened upon LuckyVitamin.com quite by chance.
I was originally looking for an alternative to the liquid vitamins I’d been taking for years. While they were good quality vitamins, they were not the most economical especially when you added shipping to the total cost. (Liquid vitamins weigh a lot more than capsules or gel caps.)
One afternoon, I stopped in at a local health food store to see what they offered. I spoke with an employee who told me which brands were better (all supplements are not created equal). Some are more absorbable and assimilate into your body better than the cheapy supplements. However, most of the products they carried cost a lot more than I was willing to pay so I decided to search the web and see what I could find.
I’ve been buying from Lucky Vitamin ever since… about 3 years now.
Pros
The prices were what originally hooked me. As a matter of fact, I had reverse sticker shock. The prices were so low I wondered what the catch was. But there isn’t one. No minimum orders, no clubs to join… just low prices.
LuckVitamin.com carries well-known, better brands of supplements like NOW Foods, Country Life, Jarrows and many others. These are the brands that are well researched, absorb into your system better instead of getting eliminated and offer the best quality ingredients. Lucky Vitamin sells these brands for about the same price that Walmart sells the cheap stuff. (Even after you add in the shipping costs.)
Shipping is something that chronically irritates me when shopping online. It seems stores make a habit of overcharging for shipping. I understand shipping costs money, and I don’t mind paying actual shipping charges, but many stores go overboard.
LuckyVitamin.com charges reasonable shipping rates. I think they must operate on a scale – you know… $0 – $29 is $x.xx, $30 – $39 is $x.xx, etc. From what I can tell, $5.95 is the least amount they charge. I always make a point to go through my supplements and order everything at one time to save on shipping. If I order one bottle of calcium here and one bottle of multivitamins there, I’ll have to pay $5.95 on each order. If I order three or four items for – say – $35.00, I’ll pay around $7.95. Much less expensive. If your order exceeds $100, shipping is free.
Another aspect I don’t care for when shopping online is being forced to create an account. For security reasons, I don’t want ecommerce sites to store my personal and credit card information in their system. Servers can be hacked. LuckyVitamin.com does not make you sign up for an account. You do have the option to sign up if you want the convenience of tracking your orders or of having the site automatically filling in all your contact and payment information the next time you visit. An account isn’t required, however.
Cons
I really haven’t found any cons. As I said, I’ve been ordering from them for about three years. Every order has been correct. I’ve never had the first problem or return. However, they post all their contact information clearly on the site so, if I ever should have an issue, I could easily find out who to call or email for assistance.
