Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free Pants
Written by Karon on Monday, November 2, 2009 12:12In practically every woman’s closet you’ll find at least one pair of khaki pants. Whether they are, indeed, khaki in color (or perhaps black, navy or brown) they are a mainstay because of the comfort and versatility they bring. That’s me. I have several pairs in a range of colors. But the ones I find myself always searching for first are my Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free pants.
Pros
I got my first pair – oh – probably three years ago. I have a hard time with getting a good fit so once I find a pair of chinos that work well, I want more! I brought the first pair home and washed them. I’m one to put everything in the dryer. I don’t want to have to baby my clothes with line drying or expensive dry cleaning. Plus I hate to iron so wrinkle free is always my friend.
The Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free pants did not shrink. And, when taken immediately out of the dryer, they were wrinkle free. As with all other cotton clothes, if you leave them sitting in the dryer once it stops, they will wrinkle.
The problems I’ve had with other chino/khaki type pants included stretching and fading over time. You know what I mean… after a year of wear, you’ll find yourself trying to match the seams up while hanging your pants only to notice that the seams don’t match any longer. From sitting, moving and wearing, the fit has stretched a bit.
Also, fading (especially with dark colors) is a problem. I’ve had a few pair of chinos (not the Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free pants) that were in perfectly good shape except for the fact that the black was now a horrible grayish sort of color. Who wants to wear pants that look like that?
The black pair of Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free pants I have are now two years old and the back is just as dark as the day I bought them.
Cons
The only thing I think could be improved about the Christopher & Banks Wrinkle Free pants is the softness of the material. Don’t get me wrong: it is 100% cotton and it is soft. However, it’s not *as* soft as material that hasn’t been deemed “wrinkle free.” It’s not the least bit scratchy or rough… just feels a tiny bit stiffer than “non-wrinkle-free” fabric. I’m sure they must treat the material somehow so that it will resist wrinkles and that’s probably what causes it to feel the way it does. A small price to pay for not having to iron, if you ask me.

How do the pant sizes run? The C&B Website offers a sizing chart, but it lumps 4-6 together, etc. I find that I wear 1-2 sizes smaller in nicer department store brands, like Ralph Lauren and Eddie Bauer versus mall stores and lower-end pants.

These are very true-to-size. I wear an 8 in almost every pant and jeans and I wear an 8 in the C&B pants. I know what you mean about Ralph & others. Sometimes in those – or in dress slacks/suit pants – I’ll wear a 6. But I think if you wear a 4 or a 6 in casual pants and jeans, you would wear that same size in the C&B pants.

If you wear an 8, I’d probably need a 10…ya think? Pants are so hard without trying them on. I’m thinking they’d be too long for my short legs!

They have petite sizes. How tall are you? If you’re 5′ 4″ – 5′ 5″, you’d take that. You might do better with petite sizes. Go look at some jeans in your closet and see what size they are. I bet you’d be about an 8 petite.

Yeah, only 5′3″. But I have a feeling the waist would be too tight on petite 8. Petite’s in general these days! :O

Too much chocolate?
Yes, then… I’d go to the next size which would be 10 petite.

For the record, I wasn’t claiming to wear a size 4…*they* grouped 4s with 6s, which made me leery of the 6s. I’m also a whisker under 5′5″, but petites seem to be just a wee too short.

They have a store in Burnsville, so I’m just going to visit first and if I like the fit- I will order more online. Thanks. (BTW- I’m also not 40something- Is it still okay to post on this site?)

C&B has two “classic” style jeans. Is that what you want? These are gonna be just regular ole jeans. Petite Classic Fit Straight Leg Jeans
and then they also have Petite Comfort Fit Straight Leg Jeans
.
The “comfort waist” kind have hidden elastic in the band. If you have a problem with jeans fitting in the waist, these are the ones that will prob. work best.
I also like Lee jeans. Their classic cut jeans fit me really well although I haven’t bought any in a couple of years. Right now they are on sale and Lee is offering free shipping.
